At CBS we celebrated “CREATIVITY DAY” and the theme was “All around the World”.
The children experienced different aspects of the arts like drawing, music, dance and theatre.
The children were able to develop their creative skills whilst getting to know different cultures from all around the world.
In modern dancing they have been dancing to music from the Andes, China, Latin music and Bollywood. They had an opportunity to listen and move to the music as well as developing their gross motor skills.
In Art Factory they visited China and made and coloured Chinese dragons.
Musical Instruments were also an important part of our Creativity Day. All the classes have been able to learn about different instruments. The children have listened without looking- closing their eyes and letting the music communicate different feelings to them.
They have played the Djembe, listened to the violin and the guitar. They have also been able to draw a picture of what the music conveyed to them.
During musical storytelling the children have listened to the story “Handa’s Surprise”. Our Ladybirds, Butterflies, Bumblebees and Caterpillars were introduced to the adventures of an African Girl called Handa, who wanted to visit her friend from a nearby village and take her friend some fruit. During her journey Handa encounters different animals and as she does so she has less and less fruit to take to her friend… but we don’t want to tell you the end of the story. Ask your child. We are sure he/she will be happy to tell you what happens to Handa and what is the surprise at the end of the story…What do you think?
To carry out these activities we have been lucky to have with us the Asociación Novarte and their excellent artists and musicians.
