At Coruña British School, we believe that an Education in Values is one of the core foundations upon which the educational process should be built and is essential to the intellectual, social and personal development of young people at every stage of their schooling. From the moment that children arrive at our school we strive to instill in them a sense of ethical awareness, reinforcing positive values such as hard work, respect, friendship and compassion.
In order to acquire the knowledge and understanding that they need to succeed in their studies and in the wider world, pupils require concentration, self-discipline and a positive and focused approach. We want our students to understand the importance of good-manners and for them to become respectful, committed and passionate young people, confident in themselves, and proud to represent our school community and the NACE Group as a whole.
Academic excellence goes hand in hand with a clear personal vision. From Early Years onwards, students are encouraged to adopt the values which underpin our curriculum and to understand the importance of traits such as perseverance, hard work, tolerance and respect, for themselves, for others and for the environment. As pupils progress through Secondary School and on into Sixth Form, they will continue to learn essential life skills such as the ability to think rationally, resolve conflict, make their own decisions, evaluate risk and to grow in intellectual, emotional and social maturity.
At Coruña British School we encourage our students to participate in charitable and community projects. Involvement in the wider community helps our pupils to develop values such as compassion, empathy and social responsibility. Our pupils participate in a charity Reading Marathon and a Christmas Campaign to raise money and provide assistance for others who may be less fortunate than themselves.
At Coruña British School, we understand our Corporate Responsibility to be the ethical obligations and commitments that arise as a result of the impact that the activity of our school has upon social, working, environmental and human rights. We are committed to improving our social, economic, and environmental impact and aim to reconcile business efficiency with these three key concerns. We believe that our entire school community can play a significant role in helping to recognise the importance of social and ethical responsibility.
At Coruña British School, we are committed to fulfilling the following objectives:
